Victories for López, Pérez, Cardús, Ogura and Gómez in Jerez

Alonso López and Ai Ogura took the wins at the Moto3 Junior World Championship, Ricky Cardús took his third victory of the season in Moto2 and Andreas Pérez and Francisco Gómez won the races of the European Talent Cup that were held in Jerez.

Before the start of the races, there was a minute of silence in memory of Angel Nieto at the main straight of the Jerez Circuit.

In the first race of the Junior World Championship, Alonso López beat the leader of the series, Dennis Foggia, by 89 thousandths. In the second, Ai Ogura, who started the last lap in fifth position, took advantage of the four riders on top crashing to achieve his first win at the FIM CEV Repsol.

With today’s result, Dennis Foggia -leader with a 60-point advantage – could be mathematically Champion of the Junior World Championship in Aragón, 2 races before the end of the series.

In Moto2, Ricky Cardús won the only race of the European World Championship that was held in Jerez. Granado, leader of the series, was second.

After the race in Jerez, Eric Granado has 20 points of advantage over Cardús in the overall standings, and 43 over the third, Steven Odendaal.

At the European Talent, Andreas Pérez and Francisco Gómez won each one of the two races held. Both races were very close, as they were both won by less than a tenth.

Manuel González, seventh in both races in Jerez, keeps the lead of the European Talent Cup. Simon Jespersen, second, is 17 points behind Gonzalez and Álex Toledo, third, is 20 points behind.

The next race of the FIM CEV Repsol will take place at MotorLand Aragón the next 7 and 8 of October.

Alonso López – Moto3 first race winner

Ai Ogura – Moto3 second race winner

“This race was very complicated. I didn’t feel well on the bike, but I waited for the last lap. Naturally, I didn’t expect so many crashes, but I’m happy with this win.”

Ricky Cardús – Moto2 race winner

“I’m very happy with how the weekend has gone. We had come from two bad races in Valencia and Portugal, where I made a big mistake that made us lose 25 points. Now we can only fight for victories and forget about what the leader of the championship is doing. The team gave me the best material from the beginning, we’re working hard to try and win everything, which is what we have to do, and we’ll see what happens in Valencia.”

Andreas Pérez – European Talent Cup first race winner

“It was an amazing weekend. Today it was very hot, the tarmac was very abrasive and the tyres were destroyed at the end of the race. I tried to push hard from the beginning, but when I saw that I couldn’t escape, I saved strength and in the last lap I pushed very hard. I’m very happy. I’d like to thank the team, because they trust me a lot and that’s why makes me be on top.”

Francisco Gómez – European Talent Cup second race winner

“I’m very happy. It was a very difficult race, very long and very hot, but we were able to hold on until the end. We had many issues with the grip, as the circuit’s tarmac is new and doesn’t have much. During the race, I was smart because I was holding on and watching my rivals.”
