Toni Bou takes his fifth win of the season ‘at home’

The Repsol Honda Team rider took his twelfth victory at the Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona, with Takahisa Fujinami finishing in sixth place.

Toni Bou keeps gathering victories in this season of the X-Trial World Championship. Second during the first phase, he was able to pass Fajardo and Bincaz in the semi-final to beat Adam Raga in the finale.

Takahisa Fujinami finished the first phase in fifth place, but lost one position in the semi-finals, where he was tied with Busto and finished just 1 point away from the fourth.

With this result, Toni Bou has now 100 points in the overall standings, 31 more than the second-placed with 3 rounds to go before the end of the championship. The next round will take place next March 8th in Sevilla.

Toni Bou – 1st

I’m very happy with this result. The Barcelona round is always a very special time for me, and I’m always very nervous whether the championship is going well or not. I want to congratulate Adam [Raga], because he did a very complete race and he was competitive in every lap. We took risks until the end and I had to secure it, although with the new rules it’s difficult to do it. The race was perfect for me, because we also offered a good show to the public. I’m very happy with this start of the championship, taking all victories and also winning at home. I couldn’t ask for more.”

Takahisa Fujinami – 6th

The Barcelona X-Trial is always quite difficult. This year there weren’t such big obstacles, but it was more technical, overall. In the semi-finals there were quite a few complicated areas and starting with a failure affected me a little. In the end there was a small difference in points between the fourth and the fifth, and it was a pity that I finished sixth, because I was tied in points with Jaime [Busto]. For me, this is the most important race of the season, because it’s the one closer to the Montesa-Honda factory, to our friends, family and sponsors. I’ll keep working and fighting, doing my best for the next race.”
