The Repsol riders leave Misano emptyhanded after suffering crashes in the early stages of the race.
Arón Canet made a good start, which has allowed him to ride in the leading group.
Canet was then involved in a multiple-rider crash coming out of the final corner – Turn 16 – at the end of the second lap.
Alonso López, who managed to gain eight positions at the start, suffered an unfortunate crash at the start of the first lap.
ALONSO LÓPEZ | DNF
“I started very well and I was feeling very comfortable, but at Turn 5 I had a scare that I could not save and I went to ground. It’s a pity because in these past two races I have noticed something that hadn’t felt in the previous rounds; I feel that I’m almost there, although we have to improve our lines so as not to exceed the track limits. It’s a shame about the crash, but I am very happy with the weekend we had and I think we are making a lot of progress.”
ARÓN CANET | DNF
“I couldn’t avoid the crash by Jaume Masiá, and neither could several riders who were behind me. It was a shame because I could have had a good race. I have pain in my left arm but the doctors have ruled out a possible fracture of the humerus. We will continue working with the same determination, despite the difficulties; I lost points with respect to the leaders in the World Championship, but at least I continue to be in fourth and I haven’t suffered any serious injury.”
