Alonso López and Sergio García’s efforts go unrewarded in Argentina

With 10 laps to go, López was in eighth place, but was taken out by a rival at Turn 13.

López had started the race from seventeenth position on the grid, and was in the leading group when he was knocked down.

In two weeks’ time, both riders will be back in action at the the Grand Prix of the Americas, from April 12th-14th.

Alonso López – No clasificado

“Today I had a very good pace. In the warm up I felt pretty good riding alone and overtook several riders. In the race, I was gaining positions little by little until I reached eighth; just when I was going to try to pass to get up to seventh, a mistake by another rider knocked me down. I wasn’t able to do anything to avoid it. It was bad luck. We will have to see if in Austin everything goes just as well and we can be at the front.”

The team have been unlucky in Argentina. Despite the good work done this weekend by Sergio Garcia in his debut, it was a pity that he could not take the start after his fall in the warmup. Fortunately it has been determined that he has no serious injuries. However, he felt a bit dazed and, as a precaution, it was decided to perform a CAT scan on him at the Hospital de Santiago del Estero facility. The team will be very attentive to his recovery, and we will work so that he is in the best possible condition for the race in the United States.

As for Alonso, his progress was clearly seen in the race. He fought back to gain many places in such a compact group, meaning he was in a position to fight for the podium; It was a pity that he was taken out of the race by another rider.
