Repsol Moto3 rookie Sergio García had fought his way up to eighth when he was hit by another rider, crashing with four laps remaining.
Sergio Garcia had started from 23rd on the grid, steadily moving up the order to reach eighth place.
Four laps from the chequered flag, another rider took him out on the newly-named ‘Dani Pedrosa corner’, eliminating the Spaniard from the race.
Alonso Lopez rode in the second group and benefited from numerous crashes ahead of him to place fourteenth. He claimed 2 points, and lies eighteenth in the overall standings.
Alonso López | 14th
“I had expected a little more from this race, because the pace we had matched that of the leading group. Our grid position slowed me down a bit and reduced our chances, because the riders at the back come out very agitated. It is important to pass the less experienced ones, since there is a lot of overtaking and you can’t ride consistently, which makes you lose contact with the front group. It’s a shame, because I was riding comfortably and I did what I could. In the end we have picked up a couple of points.”

“I progressed little by little and I don’t know where I would have got to, but I thought I had the strength to fight until the end. I was going into the corner normally, but I was hit by another rider and fell. I didn’t see what happened to cause that. It’s a shame, but at the same time I’m very happy about the race I was having. I was in the lead group at all times and that is a very big step in a World Championship race in itself. Now we are focusing on continuing to improve. Raúl Fernández apologised for the incident and it’s all ok; these things happen in racing.”
