The two Repsol riders crash in the early stages of the San Marino Grand Prix race
Alonso López, who started from 21st, suffered a sudden crash at Turn 2 of the third lap, which has forced him to retire from the race.
There was also bad luck for his teammate, Sergio García, who went down at Turn 8 of the opening lap.
The Aragon Grand Prix, the next round for the Moto3 World Championship, will be held next weekend, from September 20th to 22nd.
ALONSO LÓPEZ
“I’m happy because I think we found the right way to work, but at the same time I’m a little displeased because I think I could have had a very good race and been in one of the first two groups. It’s a shame about the crash, which happened when overtaking Kornfeil and losing the rear. Now we have to focus on MotorLand, which is a circuit that I like, one of my favourites and a home round.”
SERGIO GARCÍA
“The crash came when I was in the group fighting for points, when I had already passed a lot of riders and was making a good comeback. I’m happy with the start I made, but at Turn 8 I went down. I still don’t know exactly what happened, but it’s a pity. We have to keep going, continue working and think about the next race. It’s in Aragon, a circuit that I already know, so I hope everything will be a little easier.”
