The two Repsol riders get good results at MotorLand. López, fifth, places less than 2 tenths off the podium and García, in seventh, claims his best finish of the season
Alonso López made a good start to the Aragón GP, moving into third off the line and completing the opening lap in second position.
Teammate Sergio García started 29th and gained six places on the first lap. He gradually climbed the order until he reached the front group during the second half of the race, crossing seventh the finish line.
On the final laps, López fought for second place with Foggia and Ogura, while his teammate García did likewise for sixth with McPhee and Suzuki.
ALONSO LÓPEZ
“I’m very happy with the weekend, because both in wet and dry conditions we were very fast, and that is very positive. Riding alone in practice also helped me a lot to prepare for the race. Off the start I was always in the top three or four, and was quite comfortable in the group. On the last lap I tried to overtake Foggia and Ogura, but they shut me in a little and in the end I couldn’t pass them. What I will take away is the good feeling I had, and I am sure that if we continue like this, we can do a great job at the coming races. I want to thank the team and everybody who came out to support me.”
SERGIO GARCÍA
“I’m very happy, because it was a difficult weekend that we overcame. We found things very hard at Misano and were somewhat lost with the setup of our bike. However, this weekend we worked harder than ever and in the end we succeeded. We still have a little way to go to take another step forward, but in this race I started from 29th and I finished 7th, riding in the front group. I’m more than satisfied. I have to try to ensure that when I get to the first group I move a little further ahead, but we will attempt that during the flyaways. I really enjoyed this race.”
