The Spanish rider secured the title by winning the first of the four races held during the second-to-last round of the FIM CEV Repsol. Alcoba, Garzó and Rueda took the rest of the wins.
Jeremy Alcoba won the only race of the FIM Moto3 Junior Championship and increased his lead with Tatay up to 46 points, with only 50 more up for grabs. Holgado and Tatay completed the podium.
Starting from pole position, Edgar Pons took the victory in the first Moto2 race, after leading it from flag to flag in order to be Moto2 European Champion for the second time in his career.
In the second contest of the class, Héctor Garzó took his first win of the year in a race that had two starts and in which Pons crashed two laps from the end while he was fighting for his second victory of the day.
The race of the European Talent Cup (ETC) had a difficult start due to a multiple crash in the first lap that forced a red flag to appear.
In the second start, with the race reduced to only 12 laps, José Antonio Rueda took his first win of the season – ahead of his teammates Diogo Moreira and Adrián Cruces – and is pushing hard for the runner up position of the championship.
The last round of the FIM CEV Repsol will be at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Valencia next November 10th.
Moto3 – Race
JEREMY ALCOBA – MOTO3 RACE WINNER
“Everyone thought that my aim was to push to the max, but we didn’t know if the soft tyre would last for the whole race. I preferred to keep calm and control my rivals, better than pushing from the start and risk to wear the tyres. When I saw we were five riders in the group, I tried to slow the race and attack at the end of the contest. I want to thank my team, my sponsors and my whole family, as they have all come to Albacete to support me.”
Moto2 – Race 1
EDGAR PONS – MOTO2 RACE 1 WINNER AND 2019 MOTO2 EUROPEAN CHAMPION
“I’m very happy because the season went very well. Before the race I felt a lot of pressure because I wanted to secure the title as soon as possible, but I also knew that we couldn’t gamble with it. It was a bit complicated, but I felt well from the beginning and I built my advantage with every lap. I want to thank my team especially, as we’ve been working a lot together since last year. This motivates me even more to keep working, to continue believing in myself and to keep growing.”
Moto2 – Race 2
HECTOR GARZÓ – MOTO2 RACE 2 WINNER
“I’m very happy. In the end we’ve shown all the work we’ve been doing the whole year. I pushed to the max for the whole race trying to avoid Edgar overtaking me and in the end I did it. I’m very happy for my team, it was great to see all the work we’ve done shown during one race.”
European Talent Cup – Race
JOSÉ ANTONIO RUEDA – EUROPEAN TALENT CUP RACE WINNER
“It was a very difficult race. I was able to escape with another two riders and, from the beginning, I took the first place and pushed during the whole contest. It was very exciting. I want to thank my team, my parents and my whole family.”
