A victory in the first race of the category allows the Catalan rider to secure the title at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit. Tatay, Pons and Ortolá complete an all-Spanish set of victories for the last round of the year.
Jeremy Alcoba secured the title of FIM Moto3 Junior World Champion in the best possible way, by winning the first race of the day. José Julián García and Aleix Viu completed an all-Spanish podium.
In the second race, Carlos Tatay was the winner of a race marked by a multiple crash nine laps before the end. Behind the Spanish rider finished the Belgian Barry Baltus and Adrián Fernández, who achieved his first podium in the category.
Over at the Moto2 race, Edgar Pons –who secured the title in the Albacete round- took his seventh win of the season after overtaking Hector Garzó in the last lap. Italy’s Yari Montella completed the podium.
Iván Ortolá secured the runner-up position at the European Talent Cup (ETC) after his third win of the year in the only race of the class. Fermín Aldeguer finished second and Adrián Cruces third.
This round at the Ricardo Tormo circuit finishes the FIM CEV Repsol’s 2019 season, that included a total of 8 rounds, 34 races, 14 different winners and was held in 3 different countries (Spain, Portugal and France).
JEREMY ALCOBA – MOTO3 RACE 1 WINNER AND FIM MOTO3 WORLD JUNIOR CHAMPION
“It was amazing, I didn’t expect to win today. I started the race controlling Tatay, but I saw that the group was very big and with riders I didn’t expect to be there. I decided to be in front and be careful, because many of the riders that usually can’t fight for victory were doing their best. I tried to be calm, but in the last few laps I felt very strong and pushed to the max. In the end, what a rider wants is to win, so I forgot about the championship and fought for victory. It’s been a spectacular year and I want to dedicate the title to my team, my family and my sponsors. We need to celebrate it big time.”
CARLOS TATAY – MOTO3 RACE 2 WINNER
“It was an amazing season. The Valencia circuit is not one of the best for me and winning with quite an advantage over the second as I did today is something I had never imagined. I pushed from the start and I did it. It’s been great. I want to thank the team for their support and my family, that came to visit me, and everyone that makes this possible.”
EDGAR PONS – MOTO2 RACE WINNER
“I’m very happy to finish the season with a win. It was a difficult weekend, my back was hurting from the first day and it bothered me a lot, especially on the right corners. That made us lose a lot of time, but we’ve been working hard on the bike to cover the areas where I couldn’t. Hector’s [Garzó] bike was very fast on the straights and I knew I had to push in the second sector, as in Turn 4 my braking was much better. I did my best in that point and it worked well. I want to thank my team for their work.”
IVÁN ORTOLÁ – EUROPEAN TALENT CUP RACE WINNER
“I am very happy with the race. At the beginning it was difficult, because there were many overtaking manoeuvres, but in the end, we were able to take the win we deserved since long ago. I’m happy and want to thank my family, my sponsors and specially my team.”
