García Dols fightback interrupted by a penalty

The Repsol rider started last and reached the Top 10, but a sanction led him to finish seventeenth -one position behind teammate Ryusei Yamanaka.

Sergio García Dols made a great start from last on the grid, and was into ninth place after just five laps.

The Repsol rider remained in the Top 15 for several laps, until he was hit with a ‘long lap’ penalty for repeatedly exceeding the track limits. He eventually finished 17th.

Ryusei Yamanaka had a consistent race, maintaining a good pace and fighting to finish in the Top 15. The Japanese rider finally placed sixteenth, close to the points.

SERGIO GARCÍA DOLS – 17th

“I rode the two days of practice without finding a good feeling with the bike. We were last on the grid because we didn’t do well in qualifying yesterday. I went out there to give my all and I was able to recover positions until reaching the Top 10, but as the race progressed I was losing grip. I was not riding as I would have liked and afterwards I was given the ‘long lap’ penalty. I hope that at the next Grand Prix here everything will turn out better.”

RYUSEI YAMANAKA – 16th

“I’m happy with the start of the race. I tried to push hard on every corner as I felt comfortable, but in the middle of the race the tyres lost grip. That made it very difficult for me to stay with the group. The final position is not the best, but the good thing is that the lap times I set were very similar to those of the front group. We will see next week; We will try to achieve a better position on the grid for Sunday.”
