The Repsol Honda team rider claims his third victory of the season, extending his lead in the standings. Takahisa Fujinami places eighth and ninth.
The TrialGP World Championship held two races at the second round of the 2020 campaign in Pobladura de las Regueras, León, with Toni Bou the winner of both. After 4 races so far this season, the Repsol Honda Team rider has 3 victories and a third place finish to his name, giving him a flawless podium record and the lead of the overall standings. Teammate Takahisa Fujinami finished the two rounds in eighth and ninth place.
Bou was the runaway victor on both days in León. Still not 100% recovered from recent injuries, the Repsol Honda Team rider was able to make the difference on a difficult course to claim the win by 21 points on Saturday and 8 on Sunday.
Fujinami had a more difficult weekend, failing to find a good pace in the race. He ended the weekend with an eighth and ninth place from the respective races.
Bou extends his lead in the TrialGP World Championship to 75 points, whilst Fujinami is eighth with 35 points. The next round of the series will be held in Andorra next week, on September 19-20th.
TONI BOU:
“Today was a very positive day. It was very hard and we all made quite a few mistakes. It was a tough day not only because of the discomfort I had from my arm, but also because I never quite felt comfortable on the bike. The race was very close, but we managed to get a very important victory for the championship. We will try to be in the best possible shape for the race in Andorra.”
TAKAHISA FUJINAMI:
“Today was a pretty tough day psychologically, as the trial was very difficult and many riders made mistakes -so the positions were changing around a lot. We tried to modify some things on the bike but I don’t think we got it quite right. On the third lap I was able to clear my mind and improve, but it was not enough. I’m happy with the work that we have done so far, but the results are lacking. I trust that they will come at the next race, in Andorra.”
