Sergio García Dols finishes fourth

The Repsol Moto3 rider just misses out on the podium at the Catalan Grand Prix. Ryusei Yamanaka finishes fifteenth.

Sergio García Dols, who started tenth on the grid, climbed six places and finished fourth at the Circuit de Barcelona – Catalunya on Sunday. The Spanish rider was up into podium positions for several laps, eventually crossing the finish line just behind the rider in third. Fourth place is his best position of the season so far.

Ryusei Yamanka, who started 26th, also managed to make a fightback, and finally finished 15th -eleven places higher than his spot on the grid. He added a point to his World Championship tally.

García Dols gains two positions in the overall standings and is now 16th with 32 points. Ryusei Yamanaka is 22nd with 13 points.

SERGIO GARCÍA DOLS – 4th

“It has been a very positive weekend. We worked a lot on our pace, thinking about the race, which is what we were finding hardest. I think the weekend went very well; in the race I was riding well and calmly, and I was up at the front. It was a shame about the final laps, since I went wide a few times and I think that is what meant I was unable to make the podium. I’m very happy; we’ve taken a big step forward and now it’s time to continue like this.”

RYUSEI YAMANAKA – 15th

“I really enjoyed the race because I fought hard. I didn’t get a good start and that forced me to have to fight a lot, although I finally tried to move up the field. The front group separated a bit and I stayed in the second pack until the end, and there I was able to pass some other riders. It was difficult but we managed to score a very important point ahead of the next race.”
