Marc Márquez and Pol Espargaró will compete at the Le Mans Circuit in the French Grand Prix this weekend
The Repsol Honda Team head to one of the tracks where they have achieved the most success. In their 26 participations in the French Grand Prix, their riders have been on the podium 24 times.
The rider with the most rostrum finishes for the team in France is Marc Márquez, with three victories and a third place. The eight-time World Champion comes into the 2021 event having picked up 16 points in his two appearances this year, and having progressively improved his fitness as he returns from a long term injury.
Since his debut in the World Championship, Pol Espargaró has taken a victory and a third place – the latter last year – at Le Mans. The Repsol Honda Team rider completed a productive day of testing in Jerez just after the Spanish Grand Prix two weeks ago.
The first MotoGP Free Practice for the French Grand Prix will take place on Friday at 9.55am (CEST).
MARC MÁRQUEZ
“It has been a good week between races, I have been able to rest and continue my training and recovery. The goal for this weekend is to have less complications and continue working to improve. Step by step we are getting stronger and our goal is to continue the progress we have been making. The weather in Le Mans can always make things a little bit tricky but we will handle whatever happens.”
POL ESPARGARÓ
“The test we had on Monday was very helpful for me and the team, we tried many things and were able to understand more about the Honda. Last year we were able to finish on the podium in the wet at Le Mans, of course we would prefer it to be dry but the weather will be the same for everyone and it will give me an opportunity to try this bike in new conditions. The motivation is as high as always, I’m excited for another weekend.”
