MotoGP returns to Silverstone for twelfth round of the season

By 24/08/2021No Comments

Off the calendar in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the British Grand Prix is the next challenge for the Repsol Honda Team

After finishing very satisfied in Austria, Marc Márquez arrives at Silverstone with the aim of continuing to improve his performances both in practice and in the race itself. The Repsol Honda Team rider has previously been on the podium in the premier class at the track on three occasions, with a victory, a second place and a third place.

In total, Márquez holds two victories across all classes at Silverstone, a circuit that features famously changeable weather conditions.

Pol Espargaró, who continues to work to improve his riding on the Honda RC213V, arrives at the British Grand Prix with his sights set on a strong race. He has already seen better showings in qualifying, and now wants to score as many points as possible on raceday.

At Silverstone, Espargaró was second in 2010 in the 125cc race, and in 2012 he was the winner in Moto2.

MARC MÁRQUEZ:

“It will be great to see the British fans again after a year away. Racing in Austria with fans in the stands was enjoyable, so I am looking forward to doing it again in England! Our position between the races has not changed, this weekend is again all about working to improve and seeing what’s possible on Sunday. Last race we had the speed and were able to fight, but Silverstone is a very different circuit, and many can be strong there.”

POL ESPARGARÓ:

“Let’s see what this weekend in Silverstone can bring us. It’s a long circuit, which is quite different to where we just were. First we need to understand how the bike is working there and then make our plan for the weekend but the goal is to improve and try to fix the problems we had in Austria. I enjoyed racing in front of fans again last time out, so it’s good news we will do it again this weekend.”
