New one-two for Repsol Honda team at Pamplona X-Trial

Toni Bou takes victory in the third round of the Indoor Trial World Championship, accompanied on the podium by teammate Gabriel Marcelli

The third round of the X-Trial season was held in Pamplona, where the Repsol Honda Team once again took victory through Toni Bou -and also enjoyed a second place for Gabriel Marcelli.

The high level of the field was apparent on the first lap, in which Bou placed second with only three penalty points. Despite the fact that he made even fewer mistakes on the second lap, he earned third place on his way into the final. In the most decisive moment of the event, Bou kept his calm and took the victory, conceding just three penalty points.

Marcelli continued to demonstrate the progress made since he joined the team a year ago. On the first lap he was third, collecting only one point more than his teammate. However, a perfect second round put him into the final. An early accumulation of points on the first sections set him back, but he continued to battle with Jaime Busto and eventually earned second.

Bou increases his overall lead with 58 points, while Marcelli maintains third place with 40. The next round will take place on April 7th in Bordeaux, France.

Toni Bou

“It was a tough night mentally, as everything was very tight. In the final I performed at my best and I am very happy. The other riders pushed me and it’s a victory that means a lot. I knew that in the final we had to start very strong, pushing from the beginning, and that is what we tried to do; We were aggressive and it worked out very well. I’m also very happy to be racing in a new city, in front of passionate fans, and I am happy to add a new venue to my record with a victory.”

Gabriel Marcelli

“I was very consistent throughout the night and I’m very happy with the job we have done. We have met our objectives and I felt very good throughout the race. We took a second place, which means a good number of points for the championship, and it’s fantastic. Right now we are third overall and closing the gap. The objective for the next race will be to fight for the win.”
