The fifth round of the X-Trial World Championship ends with victory for Toni Bou, who is accompanied on the podium by his Repsol Honda teammate, Gabriel Marcelli.
After six months away and four events held, the X-Trial World Championship returned this weekend to kick off the last three rounds on the calendar. Andorra hosted the fifth race of the season, in which Toni Bou earned his fourth win of the year. His teammate, Gabriel Marcelli, also achieved a place on the rostrum, finishing in third position.
Second on the opening lap, Bou had a practically perfect second lap that took him to the final, where he faced Jaime Busto and Marcelli. The reigning World Champion secured a victory that puts him 25 points ahead in the overall standings with 2 events remaining: Madrid in Spain and Vendée in France.
Marcelli also had an excellent performance in Andorra. The Repsol Honda Trial team rider rode at a high level from the start, qualifying for the final and achieving another podium in the X-Trial World Championship, which consolidates his third position overall.
The round will be on November 4 in Madrid, in which Bou will have the first opportunity to take his 17th indoor title -his 34th overall.
Toni Bou:
“I am very happy with the victory, since the race in Andorra is always special for me. On the first lap I didn’t have a very good feeling, so for the second I changed bikes and it was much better. Winning such a difficult race is incredible and this gives me extra motivation for the next one, which will be at the home of Repsol, where I will once again aim for victory and the title.”
Gabriel Marcelli:
“Today the feeling was very good. We took third place and we are happy with the result because the team worked very well. I came here third in the championship, but with Adam very close, and today I managed to consolidate the position so it has been a positive day in terms of the championship.”
