The Repsol Honda Team riders compete again this weekend in the traditional nighttime round

The second of the three races that make up the final triple header of the 2023 season takes Marc Márquez and Joan Mir to Qatar, to celebrate the nineteenth Grand Prix of the MotoGP World Championship campaign.

The Lusail International Circuit did not host the opening round of the World Championship this year, in order to be resurfaced and carry out various updates to its buildings and stands, and it is now prepared to host one of the most special Grand Prix of the year -and the only one which is celebrated at night.

Marc Márquez has all kinds of memories from Qatar since. Although he has had successful showings such as his MotoGP debut in 2013 or his victories in 2012 and 2014, in addition to 4 further podiums, he has also experienced more difficult events there.

His Repsol Honda teammate, Joan Mir, also has a victory at the track, from back in 2017.

Marc Márquez:
“Second last race of the year but the focus is still the same, we keep on working until the end. Historically Qatar has been a difficult track for us with the layout and everything, so I think again it will be a bit of a tougher weekend. With the new surface, some things can certainly change so we have to spend Friday understanding how this has changed the situation. We will see what’s possible.”

Joan Mir:
“We will keep working, keep pushing and keep racing until the very last lap in Valencia. This weekend is no different. For me personally, I’ve had some decent results in Qatar in the past and there’s a new surface with all the changes so it will be interesting to ride the Honda there. It’s another weekend to learn as much as we can.”
