The Toyota Gazoo Racing team’s victory at the Rally of Portugal secures the Constructors’ title and brings renewable fuels to the top of one of the world’s most demanding competitions.
The penultimate round of the World Rally Raid Championship (W2RC) saw a title win for Toyota and Repsol. The alliance between the Toyota Gazoo Racing team and Repsol, suppliers of renewable fuels to the Japanese manufacturer since the 2024 Dakar, mathematically secured the Constructors’ title in the World Rally Raid Championship. Lucas Moraes and Armand Monleón’s victory at the Rally of Portugal, joined on the podium by Henk Lategan and Brett Cummings, allowed the Toyota Gazoo Racing team to retain the crown they previously achieved last season.
The result in Portugal, combined with Lategan’s second place at the Dakar Rally and win in South Africa, as well as Moraes’ second place at the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge and podium finish in South Africa, means Toyota and Repsol took the title in the World Rally Raid Championship with one round remaining. The series will conclude in October with the Rally of Morocco, and is the final round in preparation for the Dakar Rally, which will be held from January 3rd-17th in Saudi Arabia.
Repsol and Toyota share a long-term vision when it comes to seeking technological and innovative solutions that contribute to the decarbonisation of high-level competition. As a result of this alliance, the energy company have supplied renewable fuel, approved by the FIA, to the Toyota factory team since 2024. This agreement was renewed a year ago to collaborate on the development of specific products for high-level competition.
