Actuality: Repsol YPF tower at the Circuit de Catalunya

 

The most emblematic hospitality area of the Circuit has a new tenant.

The Spanish Oil Company Repsol YPF and the Circuit de Catalunya have reached an agreement according to which Repsol will be the tenant of the fourth floor of the Control Tower, the most emblematic hospitality area of the Catalan track. Mr. Jaume Giró, Repsol YPF General Director of Communication and Head of the Chairmen’s Office and Mr. Fidel Sust, General Manager of the Circuit de Catalunya, signed the final agreement.Repsol will have this hospitality area for a period of 5 years, renewable. The oil company strengthens through this commercial agreement the bond with the Circuit de Catalunya and the world of motor sports.

According to Mr.Jaume Giró, ‘Having reached the agreement is a professional satisfaction, because it strengthens the already excellent relationship we have had with the Circuit de Catalunya from the very start. Competing at the highest level is something innate for us and it is part of Repsol YPF’s corporate strategy, since competition gives us the chance to be the leaders in research and development of new fuels and lubricants. Our new position within the Circuit de Catalunya, a facility which is a reference in the world of motor sports in Europe, takes us closer to our aims and will allows us to enjoy even more the activities of the sport and the fans.’For General Manager of the Circuit, Mr. Fidel Sust, , ‘Both Repsol YPF and the Circuit have had a long relationship which is renewed every year for the 24-Hours Formula Q Car Race, for which the oil company is the official fuel provider. We are very proud of the fact, that the noble floor of our control tower will be named after the most international Spanish company.

‘The control tower is the building gathering the essential services of the race organisation, such as the race direction, the offices of the race stewards, the timing and the communications’ centre. It has a total of four floors and it is located in front of the main straight of the circuit. The last floor offers spectacular panoramic views of the track, allowing to follow the races from a privileged point of view.The Circuit de Catalunya, which is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, is one of the most prestigious race tracks in Europe. It is the only European circuit organising two Grand Prix: the Spanish F1 race and the Catalan MotoGP race, both of them scoring rounds of top level motor sports competition, as well as two 24-hour races, one for cars and one for motorbikes.

Repsol YPF is the main oil company in Spain and one of the ten biggest worldwide, the seventh as regards refining and production capacity. A matchless record marks out the experience of Repsol YPF in competition. More than thirty years constantly present in car and motorbike racing highlight the history of a company having a very special relationship with motor sports. International competition at the highest level has always been the basic element of the activities of Repsol YPF, who has always been supporting the best riders and drivers in several disciplines. Repsol YPF does however not forget national and promotion championships which are actually the breeding ground for new riders and drivers, an essential factor to achieve worldwide success in the future.
