Work continues for Emilio Alzamora’s proteges onboard their Honda NSF250RWs, as they improve by over a second.
On the second day of the Jerez test, Alex Marquez and Fabio Quartararo continued their work from Tuesday and improved their lap times significantly. With a dry track from early in the morning, both accumulated significant kilometers, carried out extensive testing and improved both their feel with their bikes and their lap times compared to the first day at Jerez. The Spanish and French riders were part of the small group who went round in under 1’47, finishing seventh and eleventh respectively in the combined timesheets for the day.
Alex Marquez felt better and better with his NSF250RW after 221 kilometres ridden today and managed to take a best time of 1:46.882. The role played by the young Fabio Quartararo was the most pleasant surprise at Jerez today, as he was one of those to go into the 1’46s at the Spanish circuit. His quickest time was a 1:46.965.
Tomorrow sees the last day of the test, in which the duo will refine the setups of their NSF250RW Hondas.
Alex Marquez – 1:46.882, 50 laps, 221 km.
“The test went better today than yesterday. Both the feeling with the bike and my own feeling physically were more positive –and that allowed me to ride with more confidence. In the morning we tried many different setups, as it is a very important job ahead of upcoming tests and, in particular, the early races of the season. In the afternoon we rode less laps, but I’m satisfied because all day we did a good job. For last day of testing we still have some more new things to try that we believe can help us a little.”
Fabio Quartararo – 1:46.965, 69 laps, 305 km.
“Today was good, generally, although it was a little better in the morning than in the afternoon. In the first runout, after making some changes to the settings yesterday, I felt more comfortable and I set a good time under 1’47, so I’m very happy. In the afternoon we focused more on trying out many different things and I put in many laps. The feeling was good, so tomorrow we will work to try to take another step forward.”
