Repsol riders go down when battling for a Top 10 finish in the Czech Republic Grand Prix.

Alonso López and Sergio García, who started from tenth and 26th, respectively, were up into a packed front group on the final laps and challenging for the Top 10.

With four laps remaining, García went down at Turn 12, just in front of his teammate. Unable to avoid his teammate, López also crashed out.

The Moto3 race saw a total of 11 retirements, with just 19 riders finishing the contest.

Up next for the Moto3 World Championship is the Austrian GP, from August 9th-11th.

Alonso López

“I’m happy with how the race was going. We started very strongly and were up into the Top 3, until there were a few moments of chaos in the group and I decided to stay clear and drop down a couple of positions. At that moment, Toba crashed in front of me and we were left a little adrift of the group. When we were regaining ground, my teammate knocked into me in a racing incident and we both went down. What I’ll take away from today is the beginning of the race. We have to continue with our progress.”

Sergio García

“Today I was starting from a long way back on the grid, because in yesterday’s qualifying session on a wet track I didn’t have a good feeling on the bike. In the race, the group split and I was in the second part of it. I had a lot of pace and I felt comfortable on the bike. When we reached the front group, I continued to gain positions until my crash. I had another rider on the inside and when I was passing him there was contact, with us both going to ground. It was a racing incident.”
