The circuit of Misano, 4.180m long and with 16 corners (10 right-handers and 6 left-handers), will be the setting for the 10th round of World MotoGP. Situated a few kilometres from Forlimpopoli, birthplace of Andrea Dovizioso it is the Italian rider`s home circuit, somebody who has already taken the Repsol colours to the top of the podium this season. Just before this race the Repsol rider has analysed, corner by corner, the characteristics of the slow and twisty San Marino track.
Corner 1:
The start is very difficult because it is a very narrow track and there are 3 corners very close together where you cannot overtake, so it is very important to start near the front of the grid because they are slow corners, the riders are strung out immediately from the start of the race.
Corner 2:
A left-hander and typical of what you find at the circuit: a 90º corner where you have to move the bike to the centre of the track.
Corner 3:
I would say this is one of the most difficult corners at the circuit because it has a very narrow entrance but a very wide exit so there are many different interpretations, many different lines to take but you have to choose a good one, but here you can go fast in several different ways.
Corners 4 & 5:
The next corner, 4, is a very slow corner, almost a fork which is linked to number 5, and you take as if it were just a single corner.
Corner 6:
Very soon after number 5, and you hav to come out of it as fast as possible because you then have a right-hander in front of you and you are coming from a very slow section.
Corner 7:
This is downhill and you have to be careful with the braking because it is easy to go too long. It also has a very narrow entrance and a very wide exit so again there are several different lines to choose from.
Corner 8:
This is a very nice section because you arrive leaning over as far as you can and you have to lift the bike a little so that you can take the corner. It is very wide, both the entrance as well as the exit, and you can choose from a few different lines to take.
Corner 9:
Thi is a very difficult corner on a MotoGP bike because it is the middle of a very long straight, and although there is oinly one line you are in 6th gear and you take it accelerating with the front wheel always about to close, and the rear, when you open the throttle has a lot of traction. it is very difficult to take the best advantage of the track because you arrive very fast.
Corners 10 & 11:
These two corners are very similar, you don`t have to brake hard, you have to lean the bike over, lift it, lean over again and lift it once more till you get to the following corner a bit slower.
Corner 12:
This is a very slow corner, a long right-handed fork where you almost go in the opposite direction to take the final two corners.
Corner 13:
This is the best at the circuit for me. It is quite simple but it transmits a lot of sensations to the front wheel, and you can really enjoy the ride.
Corner 14:
This is a very difficult corner because it is very bumpy and it hard to take the right line lap after lap. And it is the corner that takes you to the home straight and you always have to bear that in mind.
