Arón Canet and Alonso López crash out of season finale

Repsol riders retire after falling in the first minutes of the race.

Canet crashed at Turn 4 after being involved in an incident with two other riders on Lap 1.

Alonso López climbed several positions on the opening corners, but ended up crashing at Turn 6. He went back on track, until he had another crash on the second lap of the race.

Canet finishes the season sixth overall, with López twenty-third.

ALONSO LÓPEZ | DNF

“I have to be happy with how the weekend went, but it’s a shame we didn’t finish, because we could have had a very good race. The track was in a very delicate condition. This morning in the warmup I felt very comfortable and very confident, but I crashed and dislocated my shoulder. Luckily it was put back in place quickly and I was fine for the race. At the start I was able to gain six places, but when I released the front brake at Turn 6 I crashed again. I was able to continue, but on the second lap I fell once more at Turn 9.”

ARÓN CANET | DNF

“I started calmly, knowing that it would be a race in which a lot of riders would not finish. A lot of riders crashed, and I was taken out at Turn 4. It’s a shame, because I felt I would be strong in the race, as in the warmup I had the same pace as the riders who fought for the victory. It’s a real shame to say goodbye to the team in this way.”
