Circuito del Jarama hosts Repsol and Monlau’s 2018 Moto3 World Championship lineup presentation.
The Monlau Repsol Technical School Moto3 World Championship project for 2018 was officially presented at the historic Circuito del Jarama in Madrid on Monday. Arón Canet, the rider who finished third in the World Championship last season, will be joined by FIM CEV Repsol graduate Alonso López -third in the Junior World Championship in 2017.
With three wins and a further three podium finishes to his name, 18 year old Arón Canet will be the team’s ‘veteran’ and will contest his third season in the World Championship. Joining him will be Alonso López, who, like Canet and many other Repsol riders before them, will debut on the world stage after shining in the FIM CEV Repsol. Last season he won three races in the series.
The boxes at the circuit were also opened for the presentation of the riders who will be supported by the Monlau Repsol Technical School in the Junior World Championship, the European Talent Cup in the FIM CEV Repsol and the RFME Spanish Championship. These eight young talents will have the opportunity to develop thanks to the alliance of Repsol and Monlau, two companies that carry competition, teamwork and innovation in their DNA, and whose project allows the formation of future riders, mechanics and engineers.

“My goal this season is to give one hundred percent in every race, in every practice session and in every qualifying session, to try to take as many points as possible. We will see if at the end of the season we are in a position to fight for the championship, but for now we have to concentrate on going step by step and fighting for victories. From what I’ve seen, it will be a very tough year. I think a rival for the title will be Jorge Martín – who I’ve known since we are children and we both know each other’s strong and weak points – and also Bastianini, who was my teammate last year.”

“I am very happy to be here and to be starting my World Championship adventure, which is about to get underway. I had a very good pace during preseason, but I need to take a step forward to improve on my fastest laps. I have learned some circuits in Spain, which could be good for me, but others like Japan -which does not look like any of the tracks we have here- will be a little trickier. Having a teammate like Arón [Canet] is perfect, since you can watch him and, if you have any doubts, he can solve them. My objective this season is to learn as much as possible from my teammate. This year I would like to have more consistency, give one hundred percent in each practice session and be able to work on my race pace.”
