Azman, Aldeguer, Zurutuza and Holgado win at Circuit de Barcelona – Catalunya

Fermín Aldeguer and Daniel Holgado remain leaders of their respective classes; Hugo Millán moves to first in ETC.

The third round of the FIM CEV Repsol took place this weekend at the Barcelona – Catalunya Circuit, with a series of exciting races on Sunday amidst hot temperatures.

The two FIM Junior Moto3™ World Championship races in Barcelona were decided on the final corners, with Malaysian rider Syarifuddin Azman taking his first victory in Race 1 and Spaniard Daniel Holgado winning for the fourth time in five contests this year in the class in Race 2.

In the Moto2 class, Fermín Aldeguer dominated both races from start to finish, followed home by his teammate Alonso López on both occasions. In the five races held to date in 2021, the pair have five one-two finishes.

Xabi Zurutuza took his first win of the season in the European Talent Cup. In the only race of the weekend for the series, the Spaniard overtook teammate Máximo Martínez to head a podium completed by fellow title challenger Hugo Millán Gracia.

The next FIM CEV Repsol 2021 event will be held on July 4th at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, with two races for the Moto2 class and one for Moto3 and the European Talent Cup.

Syarifuddin Azman – Moto3 race 1 winner:

“I want to thank my team for this victory and for the great job that they did this weekend – especially my crew chief and my managers. I’m very happy and I also want to thank my fans and my family for all their support.”.

Daniel Holgado – Moto3 race 2 winner:

“It was a fantastic race. Getting my fourth win of the season in Barcelona is very nice. I want to dedicate it to my entire team for the incredible work that they have done throughout the weekend. I also want to dedicate this race to Olivia and Anna. This one is for you”.

Xabi Zurutuza – ETC winner:

“It was a very difficult race, because we had several riders fighting until the end. I held on as best I could. At Turn 10 I was able to overtake Máximo, and on the last lap I overtook Hugo, my teammate. I want to thank all my sponsors and my team, who are superstars.”.

Fermín Aldeguer – Moto2 race 1 winner:

“I’m very happy with how we worked this weekend. We had good times in all of the practice sessions, and in the first race today I pushed from the beginning in search of the win. I want to thank all my sponsors, my family and my team.”

Fermín Aldeguer – Moto2 race 2 winner:

“I’m very happy with the second race. We had a very good weekend. This race was very similar to the previous one: I set my pace and was able to open a gap and take the victory. I want to thank my team and my family, and I want to send a big hug to Paola, my classmate”.
