Best time for Marc Márquez on day two of the Valencia test

In the second session of the official test at the Circuito de la Comunitat Valenciana Ricardo Tormo, Repsol rider Marc Márquez had a very productive day, in which as well as clocking up the best time of the day, he carried out endless tests with his Derbi RSA 125. The young rider completed a total of 45 laps of the Valencian track, clocking up his best time in lap 38.

Márquez went out on the track at 11:30 this morning, after waiting for the asphalt of the Ricardo Tormo to reach a good temperature. From then on, Marc completed stints of three or four laps, to then go back to the garage and tell the technicians how he felt about the changes that were being made to the suspension set-up and various adjustments.

At 3:00 pm, the joint test with the Moto2 riders finished and although another test for the 125cc riders was scheduled for between 4:00pm and 5:00pm, the Repsol rider decided not to back out on the track due to the low temperature at this time of the day, avoiding taking unnecessary risks on a day on which nobody beat his best time. Márquez’ best time -1:40’280 sec- is a second and seventh tenths faster than the time he clocked up here in November last year during the practice for the Valencia Grand Prix and two tenths faster than the pole time clocked up by Julián Simón -1:41’472 sec-.

With the satisfaction of a job well done today, tomorrow, the Repsol rider will be ready to tackle the third and final test day at the Valencian track, which could be in the rain if the weather forecast is right.

“At the moment, everything is going really well and I’m feeling comfortable with the Derbi. Let’s see if the weather is good tomorrow to continue working well because today the track was better than yesterday and although it was a little colder, it was not windy, which always helps. I felt more confident on the machine because at the beginning you are always a little stiff and we tried different set-ups to get one I like. We even clocked up a good time, but at the moment that’s not important, what is important is to ride, clock up kilometres and continue getting to know the team, with which I’m working well”.
