Bou and Fujinami, together on the podium

The several times World Champion, second, fought for victory until the last second of the second day. Fujinami back on the podium.

Toni Bou repeated the second place of the podium in the second day of the United States Grand Prix. In this last day, participants found a slightly more difficult track. The Repsol rider finished with same points as Adam Raga, which forced to break the tie with the number of zeros achieved. The Repsol Montesa Honda rider had 27, one less than his rival.

With this result, Bou lost the lead of the World Championship by only one point, despite being the only one that has got on the podium in the four rounds held up to now.

His team mate, Takahisa Fujinami, improved since the first day –when he was fifth– and completed the podium, thus keeping the third place in the overall standings. The next two rounds of the World Championship will take place in Sant Julià de Lòria (Andorra) on June 15th and 16th.

Toni Bou,
“It was a battle fought under a lot of pressure. Adam [Raga] was very strong again and we arrived to the last lap tied and very tired. In the last lap he made me a couple of presents in the form of mistakes. But after that I did the same due to exhaustion, so we were tied again. I hope the next rounds are more complicated and tough than this one. The last results motivate me to work even harder, as I know the Championship will be very tough and close”.

Takahisa Fujinami,
“I improved from yesterday, despite some problems and mistakes that prevent me from being completely satisfied. Nevertheless, I have no reason to be disappointed. It is a feeling difficult to explain”.
