Toni Bou takes the first step of the podium and is now just one point behind the overall leader. Takahisa Fujinami repeats yesterday’s result –fifth–.
The Repsol Montesa Honda Team rider, Toni Bou won the second day of the Andorra Grand Prix of Trial held today. With this success, Bou is now only one point behind the World Championship leader, Adam Raga, who finished second. Takahisa Fujinami repeated the same result he achieved yesterday, fifth, and keeps the third place overall.
With a flawless performance in the two passes through the 18 zones, Bou achieved victory in a round that, in his opinion, had a low level of difficulty. The advantage of ten points gathered after the first lap gave the Montesa rider a comfortable margin to get his second win. Nevertheless, Toni Bou kept pushing in the second lap, where he received the lowest penalization points of the weekend. Takahisa Fujinami finished the first lap in podium position, but the mistakes he made in the second lap pushed him down to the fifth position.
The next round of the Trial World Championship will be the Spanish Grand Prix. For the first time this season it will have only one day of competition and will be held next Sunday, June 23rd, in Pobladura de las Regueras (Leon).
Toni Bou
“I needed this win, both for the points and for the confidence it gives to me at this time of the Championship. I didn’t lack confidence, but I’m not comfortable with the new rules. Today I felt very good, I rode calmly and without mistakes, which is clearly reflected in the result. It is a very important triumph.”
Takahisa Fujinami
“I am happy with my first lap, but very disappointed with the second. I passed from a podium position to the same result as yesterday. The positive side is that I kept the third place in the overall standings. I can say little else.”
