Bou wins at the difficult Trial in La Mancha del Real and becomes the first leader

Toni Bou has been the winner of the Spanish Grand Prix, opening round of the new edition of the Outdoor Trial World Championship this Sunday.
Even though, the high scores were good proof of the high level of difficulty featured by this first round of the championship. A penalty due to excess of time hindered Toni Bou from finishing the first round of the event as a leader. However, in the second round, the reigning Indoor World Champion made an impeccable passage that took him to a well deserved victory. Also Repsol rider Dougie Lampkin got onto the third step of the podium, equal in points with the third member of the Repsol Montesa HRC Team Takahisa Fujinami, who took part in the race despite not being at a hundred percent because of the high fever suffered on Saturday. Toni Bou’s victory and the third position of Dougie Lampkin have taken Montesa to the lead of the makes’ championship. The high difficulty affected Laia Sanz (Montesa-HRC Cota 4RT), who finished fifteenth of the participants of the Junior World Cup.Toni Bou: I was a bit nervous at the beginning because the ground was really slippery and I hadn’t done well on these conditions so far. But it’s been different this time; I began feeling more and more confident and achieved a victory that, under these circumstances I call a big triumph. With no doubt the best way to start the Outdoor World Championship.Dougie Lampkin:It’s been a very difficult trial in which I made a few mistake, but I’m happy. I consider it extremely important to have started the World Championship with this result on such a complicated ground. I’m expecting a lot of this Championship and starting it like this has been very interesting.Takahisa Fujinami:I lost the podium after making one zero less than Dougie in the sections, but after spending the day with high fever yesterday I value this fourth place as a good result. On such a complicated ground we have managed to see that we can be very competitive and that’s very important. The second round of the Championship will be the Grand Prix of Guatemala, on two days, to be held on April 21 and 22.Results of the Grand Prix of Spain  1.
