Fonsi Nieto: ‘Now I’m already second in the overall standings, the championship is still open and a lot of things may still happen’.
MotoGP, Valentino Rossi, 1.31´023 sec, 3rd: The final result of the race is disappointing for me. I was on a fast lap and had just beaten the lap record and never saw the flags. I did nothing wrong intentionally. I am disappointed but the rules are the rules and I cant argue with the law. I didnt take advantage of the situation and went on to win the race. I only hope the outcome of the race doesnt affect the Championship in the end. I feel clear in myself. I won a hard fought clean race. I race on the track not in the office. MotoGP, Nicky Hayden, 1.32´373 sec, 8th: I have to say I was expecting more today. I thought I had a little bit more speed than that especially as things felt so good this morning in the warm-up. I guess overall the weekend was reasonably positive. In the race I had some good battle with some guys. Bayliss and me early on, and also Edwards and Haga. In the last laps the rear brake gave up and I had no confidence in braking. I used the rear brake a lot especially round here to try and keep the front wheel on the ground. Overall the weekend was OK and things seem to be coming better. Were off the Brno to test next week. Hopefully picking things up all the time. 250. Fonsi Nieto, 1.34´780 sec, 1st: I’m very happy with the result. This is a very important victory for me. I want to thank the team, my family and all the people who have been helping me to win again. I had some problems at the beginning of the race because I had mounted a hard tyre that only allowed me to be fast towards the end of the race, on the last laps. I’ve been concentrated until the last moment to try to get to the top. The fight between Poggiali and Elias helped me as well. I closed all the gaps in the last lap; victory was the only chance. Now I’m already second in the overall standings, the championship is still open and a lot of things may still happen. 250. Toni Elias, 1.34´941 sec, 4th: I made a very good start and I was feeling very comfortable on the bike. I was trying to put pressure on Poggiali and made a mistake, I went off track and I finally paid for it. I couldn’t make up what I had lost, but there was a moment when I was just about to get back to the front of the race. If it wasn’t for West who started to get into the middle, I think that we’ve probably managed to get them. But it hasn’t been possible and now we have to start thinking about the next race. There’s still a lot of championship left, let’s see what happens. 250. Sebastián Porto, 1.35´851 sec, 6th: It’s been a quite difficult race and I’ve had problems with the engine almost throughout the race. From the tenth lap on, something began to fail, I think that it’s something electrical, because it wasn’t a constant failure, it appeared and disappeared lap after lap. Now the team has to dismantle the engine to see what it really is. That problem made it difficult for me to be in the front, because I lost a lot each time the engine failed. But I’m happy, I finished sixth and we’ve scored points in a weekend that has been really difficult for us. The problems started already on Friday with the engine Honda had brought for us, and yesterday it was the chassis. Considering all this, the scored points are very important. Now it’s time to think about the next race and to try to be back in the front. 250. Héctor Faubel, 1.37´018 sec, 12th: After a good start from the fourth row I tried to reach the group I was supposed to be in, but it hasn’t been possible. I stayed a bit behind the leading group and tried to follow them but bit by bit I lost ground and it finally became very hard to keep up with them. I’m happy with the result but not with the bike’s setting, we didn’t manage to find it. The race hasn’t been very positive, I hope to be able to solve our problems before the next one. 250. Joan Olivé, 1.36´379 sec, crashed out: Too bad I crashed in the chicane after the straight because I was really doing well today. I started from the back but reached a good racing rhythm. But there was a moment when I was riding behind somebody who didn’t want to be overtaken, doing some things I don’t think are very sportsman-like. Well, only he knows what he was doing. Now we have to think about the next race, following this line and see what’s going to happen. 125. Héctor Barberá, 1.38´824 sec, 1st:I’m very happy, it’s been a really difficult race and I managed to take the victory. I’ve proven that I can also be fast on a dry track and now I’ll have to try to be in the front in the next races as well. I think that I can make it. If we keep on working like this, we’ll be able to win more races. 125. Pablo Nieto, 1.39´157 sec, 6th: We’re not very happy, I finished sixth and it’s not a bad result but it isn’t positive. The most important thing is that we’ve scored points, that we’re still relatively close to the lead and above all, that the team is doing a great job. We also want to congratulate Héctor for his excellent victory. 125. Dani Pedrosa, 1.38´738 sec, retired: I have nothing to say, you’ve all been able to see it on TV, so everyone can make up his own opinion. I’m very disappointed, it’s already the second race like this and this time it’s been even worse. Let’s see what happens in the future. We lodged a complaint and the IRTA says that it’s been my fault. I have nothing left to say.
