British GP. Second practice. Driver´s comments

Fonsi Nieto: ‘I’ve clocked a good time and I’m ready to fight for the podium or for a victory’.
MotoGP, Valentino Rossi, 1.30´938 sec, 4th, starting grid position 4th: ‘Quite a good session for sure. At the beginning after three laps I make my best lap time and then spend much of the session looking the best tyres and the best set-up for the race. My pace was not so bad and we make a good rhythm. Then we try to make a better lap time and at the end of the session we had some problems with the bike. I don’t understand why but it was like the front tyre had no pressure and it was not possible to push. But anyway we are in a good position; the team work very hard and we look forward to a dry and good race tomorrow.’MotoGP, Nicky Hayden, 1.31´779 sec, 13th, starting grid position 13th: ‘Not such a great session this afternoon really. I felt OK yesterday for the first day here and slept on it last night. This morning was good and I got going pretty quick from the start. This afternoon we had a few tiny problems and I never really got into it – guess I got a little excited. I need to sleep on what I learnt today, enjoy the warm up tomorrow, get a good start for the race and go from there.’250. Fonsi Nieto, 1.34´736 sec, 5th, grid position 1st: ‘I knew that with the time set yesterday I would be on the front row, so today I’ve been working on the settings, focussing on the race. The team and I have been working very well here. I’ve clocked a good time and I’m ready to fight for the podium or for a victory. I’ve been testing some things that haven’t worked out well so tomorrow we’ll get back to yesterday’s settings. Toni and I are making true team work and our aim is to shorten the difference with regard to Poggiali in the overall standings.’250. Toni Elias, 1.34´386 sec, 2º, grid position 3rd: ‘I’m happy because we’ve been able to solve the problems we had yesterday. We’ve changed some parts of the rear damper that have given the expected results. I was able to improve my rhythm for the race and that helped me to get a place in the front row. The practice session has been very positive, but the last lap felt like a race, with Fonsi, De Puniet and Poggiali. It’s important to start from the front row in order not to loose contact with the leading group. Fonsi and I are helping each other and that is good in order to shorten Poggiali’s advantage in the overall standings. I’d like to be on the podium tomorrow to get back home in high spirits.’250. Sebastián Porto, 1.34´856 sec, 8º, grid position 8th: ‘It’s been a bit better than yesterday. After the problems we had throughout the day and this morning as well, we’ve been making lots of changes in the bike’s settings. We’ve almost changed everything and it’s been a good idea because I’ve been able to improve times and I feel much more comfortable on the bike. The bad side is that with this setting it feels as if it would be our first practice with these conditions, but it is important to be back in the second row for tomorrow. Now we have to keep on working and check the telemetry data once again in order to improve everything left and be able to be in the front during the race.’250. Héctor Faubel, 1.36´246 sec, 15º, grid position 16th: ‘I was really looking forward to setting a good time today, but I’m feeling quite strange on the bike since the crash. It’s in the first section, where I crashed, where I’m failing most. The first practice wasn’t very good and in the second I managed to improve times, but I still lack confidence in the section where I crashed. The results haven’t been good today. I hope to find a good rhythm tomorrow, to make a good race and to finish among the top ten.’250. Joan Olivé, 1.36´390 sec, 18º, grid position 18th: ‘It’s been a positive practice, because I’ve had a good rhythm on all laps and that is the most important for tomorrow. We had a problem with the bike at the end of the session. I don’t know what happened, the bike just stopped and I wasn’t able to finish the session. I hope to be able to fix it for tomorrow. We have a good rhythm but we missed the fast lap, it was simply impossible to do it. I hope to make a good start and to lap as I did today.’125. Dani Pedrosa, 1.38´078 sec, 2º, grid position 2nd: ‘The track has been really crowded with riders this afternoon and it was difficult to lap. We managed to improve the lap time towards the end of the session and I’ll be starting from the front row, and that’s the most important. I hope to be able to make a good race and to get a good result. It will be a hard race and there will be, as always in Donington, several riders in the front.’125. Héctor Barberá, 1.38´417 sec, 6º, grid position 6th: ‘This afternoon hasn’t been as good as expected, I’ve been lapping fast but not as fast as in the morning. We’re following the same working line as in Assen and Barcelona, and I’m happy because the racing rhythm has been very good and I think that we have everything very clear for tomorrow.’125. Pablo Nieto, 1.38´754 sec, 10º, grid position 11th: ‘I’m not very much satisfied with the results of today, we’ve had several problems with the set-up of the bike and I haven’t been able to find the right settings. Besides, I didn’t feel quite well today. We’ve improved the time set yesterday by almost three tenths of a second but the grid position is in the back, I’ll be starting from the eleventh place. I hope to improve in the race that will be very hard but also very nice.’
