The Repsol Honda Team rider has a positive first session, but a spectacular crash in the afternoon leaves him unable to place in the Top 10.
The first day of the German Grand Prix offered mixed conditions for the MotoGP riders. A completely dry P1 saw the field set good times, followed by P2 with a colder track and two red flags.
Marc Márquez started the day as the second fastest rider. In the afternoon, amidst conditions different from those in the morning, the Repsol Honda Team rider had several scares and suffered a heavy crash with just over three minutes remaining.
He was one of the few riders who did not improve their time from the morning and finally, achieved a best time of 1:20.854, putting him fourteenth in the combined standings. Márquez will have to go through Q1 on Saturday.
MARC MÁRQUEZ – 14th 1’20.854
“We have had a difficult Friday, even if it started in a good way, but we reached our limit quite soon and we need to keep working on the setup and the bike. Unfortunately, I crashed and Zarco was leaving pitlane. It was very lucky that we both escaped, I went to see Johann after to make sure he was okay. I crashed like many riders in Turn 1, I was pushing for a hot lap, and if there was anyone who could avoid the situation it was Zarco. If it’s my mistake, I always accept it. A complicated day here, tomorrow we keep trying to improve the feeling.”
