Czech GP. First qualifying sesion

Provisional pole for Rossi and Nieto after the first qualifying sesion
Elias, fourth in the 250 and Pedrosa second in the 125, on the first row of the starting grid as well
Good start of the Czech Grand Prix for the Repsol riders after the first timed session. In the MotoGP class, Valentino Rossi, who is seeing his rivals getting closer day by day, has had to make an extra effort in the final moments of the session to take the provisional pole with a bit over a tenth of a second ahead of his fellow countryman Max Biaggi. His team-mate Tohru Ukawa, who has almost completely recovered from the injuries suffered in England, has made the eighth fastest time, only eight tenths behind the provisional pole time made by his team-mate. In the 250cc, Fonsi Nieto has shown again that he is the fastest rider of his class, both during the free session as well as in the timed one. In an extremely contended first qualifying session, Fonsi made the fastest time after seeing how Rolfo, Porto and Melandri had also possibilities to grab the pole. Toni Elias, very much recovered from the injury suffered in his left hand during the past German Grand Prix, has also shown a good performance along the day taking the fourth provisional position on the starting grid.  In the 125cc Pablo Nieto has made the fastest time, followed by Dani Pedrosa, only 28 hundreds of a second behind him. Fourth in the morning session, Alberto Puig’s pupil has shown himself very focussed and concentrated in the settings and the choice of the right tyres for the race. His team-mate Joan Olivé, who was hindered by another rider during his fast lap, ended up in thirteenth position.
