Dani Pedrosa admitted to USP Dexeus and to undergo an operation on his left collarbone

This morning at 10:00 a.m., Repsol Honda Team rider Dani Pedrosa was admitted to the A&E department of the USP Dexeus in Barcelona, after arriving from Japan, where he fell in the first free practice of the Grand Prix, which is being held at the Motegi Circuit. The Head of the Hand Surgery Unit at USP Dexeus, Dr. Xavier Mir, examined the rider and did a three-dimensional CAT scan that confirmed a comminuted fracture (4 fragments) of the left collarbone, which needs to be set with a locked titanium plate. It has also been confirmed that he has a grade 2 sprain to his left ankle, which needs to be immobilised.

From 12:00 p.m., the Repsol rider will undergo an operation on his fractured collarbone at USP Dexeus by Dr. Mir; Head of the Shoulder and Shoulder Arthroscopy Unit, Dr. Victor Marlet and Head of the External Fixation Unit, Dr. Ignacio Ginebreda. A new medical report will be released after the operation.
