Repsol Honda Team rider operated on to treat broken right collarbone at Hospital Universitari Dexeus
Repsol Honda Team rider Dani Pedrosa underwent surgery on his right collarbone on Saturday afternoon, treating the injury suffered in a crash during Friday’s second free practice session for the Japanese Grand Prix
The surgery was carried out by Dr. Victor Marlet and his team from the Catalan Institute of Traumatology and Sports Medicine (ICATME) at the Hospital Universitari Dexeus in Barcelona
Doctors Victor Marlet and Sergi Barrera, overseeing the procedure, explained that: “Through the use of a CAT scan, it was confirmed that patient Dani Pedrosa had suffered a comminuted fracture consisting of four fragments, with significant shortening of the middle third of the right clavicle. The scan also detected a supcapital fracture of the right fibula with no displacement, only requiring immobilisation. A surgical operation was carried out on the right clavicle, involving its open reduction and fixation with a titanium plate. The result of the operation was satisfactory, and Dani Pedrosa will undergo an evaluation of his progress over the coming days.”
Repsol Honda Team will continue to inform on Pedrosa’s progress.
