Difficult race for Jaime Alguersuari in the last World Series round

The season’s last World Series left a bitter taste for Repsol racer Jaime Alguersuari. While Alguersuari still has the possibility of achieving the runner up position, his chances were diminished when performing the obligatory pit stop to change tires. A lug nut remained stuck and this made him lose a few crucial seconds. He was delayed significantly in returning to the track and even though he was able to regain some ground, he ended up in twelfth place.

The race started well for the Repsol racer who began in fifth place and succeeded in passing two rival racers, putting him in third place. However, before finishing the first lap, Alguersuari rounded a turn too far on the outside and lost four positions. The Repsol racer was one of the first to enter the pit stop to change tires. When barely two minutes had passed he was already in the sixth position but a problem in adjusting the left front lug nut made him lose precious time and fall back to twentieth position.

Alguersuari started with a large gain that he maintained up to the twelfth position that he held when passing under the flag. With a rhythm only exceeded by the two highest qualified racers, his effort went unrewarded as he did not gain more points in the general qualifier and ended up in sixth place.

Jaime Alguersuari
“The car was built to win today and I think I have the best car of the whole season. I was given free passage in the pit stop and we had an incident that made me lose a few crucial seconds. I feel like I’ve done a good job and I’m happy with my World Series season.”
