Repsol Montesa-HRC rider Takahisa Fujinami was the winner of the first day of the United States Trials, third test for points in the Workd Championship. Toni Bou gave the finishing touch to the Repsol Montesa-HRC double victory by taking second position, which has placed the current World Champion as the sole leader of the general classification, where Fujinami shares second place with Adam Raga.
With these results, the Repsol Montesa team has increased its advantage as the leader in the brands classification. The superiority of the two Repsol Montesa-HRC riders was evident right from the first round on a varied track, with wet areas and certain difficulty. Fujinami managed to get the best score in both rounds, with Bou at a tiny distance; three points in the first round and four in the second. Laia Sanz (Montesa-HRC Cota 4RT) finished twelfth among the participants of the Junior World Cup. The second day of the United States Grand Prix, which will be held next Sunday, will be the fourth test in the World Championship.Takahisa Fujinami I’m more than satisfied. I think I managed a great first round, and this was the key to my success. I feel exultant right now and can’t think of anything other than getting the same result tomorrow, the second day of this test.Toni Bou I’m happy about Fujinami’s and the team’s result, but to be honest I would have preferred to win myself. It’s quite clear that this championship is going to be very tight and we’ll have to bear partial results in mind and stay consistent. Ill have another opportunity tomorrow and I’ll try to make the best of it.
