Biography
This young talent of French motorcycle racing was born in Nice on April 20th, 1999, and and Spain was the country that welcomed him to develop his promising career. He got onboard a bike for the first time at age four, and crossed the Pyrenees aged seven to start racing at Spanish circuits. Since his first win in the 50cc category, Fabio Quartararo’s progression has been meteoric and has led to a place in the 2015 World Championship.
In 2007, Quartararo finished runner-up in the 50cc category of the Spanish national series, winning the 70cc title two years later. He added the 80cc. crown to his record in 2011 and won the Mediterranean PreGP Championship in 2012. At 14 years, in 2013 he debuted in the FIM CEV Repsol as the youngest rider in the competition. He took a podium at his first race and, after intense fitness work, came into the final stages of the season in top form: He won the last three races to become the youngest person to win the lower cylinder category of the national series, and only the second non-Spanish rider to achieve the title.
In 2014, under the tutelage of Monlau Repsol Technical School, he again competed in the national series. He was unable to debut in the World Championship because of the minimum age requirement. From the first race of the year he underlined his status as champion and left no chance for his rivals: From eleven races, he claimed nine wins and two second places. In 2015 -and with a second title in his possession- Quartararo can finally make the move to the World Championship.
