Fourh position for Jaime Alguersuari in France

The first race in this weekend`s round of the World Series at the circuit of Le Mans ended with a positive 4th position for Jaime Alguersuari. After classifying 5th in the Super Pole he started 4th owing to the inverted grid order for the race on Saturdays, the Repsol driver was able to finish in the same position, his best result of the season.

Jaime Alguersuari got off to a good start defending his position and he soon began to attack Marcos Barba and Pasquale Di Sabatino who were surprised on the first corner by Bertrand Baguette. The Belgian managed to get away from them both and won the race by a good distance, at the same time he became the championship leader, behind him other drivers were fighting for the podium positions; Marcos Barba managed to finish 2nd although at the end of the race he was penalised for an illegal manoeuvre.

Fifteen minutes from the end Di Sabatino was 3rd, Alguersuari 4th and Oliver Turvey 5th but a mistake by Alguersuari seven laps from the end allowed his teammate to snatch 4th place. In the end though the penalty for Barba meant that the Repsol driver moved up to 4th bringing him seven more points in the overall classification.

Tomorrow sees the second race with an obligatory pit stop and with the starting order achieved in the Super Pole, that is to say with Jaime Alguersuari in 5th position on the grid.

“The conditions in the first race today were not the most favourable for our car, and what is more I made a mistake, although in the end we got some important points. I am sure that tomorrow we can improve some things and be more competitive.”
