Toni Elias: ‘Im quite angry but I am confident that tomorrow things will work out much better’.
MotoGP. Valentino Rossi, 1.35.208 (1st): Pretty good day, yes! Im happy with the lap time and with the set-up of the bike but we have some modifications to make for tomorrow to make the bike work better. We will make some adjustments to the brakes and we have some work to do on finding the best solution for the tyre choice but today was good. The team worked well and we find a good fast early rhythm. MotoGP. Nicky Hayden, 1.36.773 (13th): Not a bad day for the first day at a new circuit. We managed to find a pretty good set-up right out of the box and I felt pretty comfortable. The bike feels real close- just got to sweeten up a bit in places. The track was not so difficult to learn and was kinda enjoyable; there are a few spots that are real fun. 13th this morning and 13th this afternoon is OK. A good base to build on for tomorrow. The forecasts not so good for Sunday. If it is gonna to be wet I hope its wet tomorrow as well! 250. Fonsi Nieto, 1.39.570 (4th): Were still far from the pole time I set last year but my times havent been bad considering the setting problems were having. I hope that the weather tomorrow stays dry to be able to improve, although if it does rain, we have a good place on the starting grid. This afternoon weve managed to reduce the front end bouncing of the bike. I pushed hard during the last few minutes, but we still have to find the right set-up that will allow me to ride comfortably. The most important thing is to have a constant pace for the race and I havent found it yet. I had a meeting with the mechanics yesterday afternoon and I asked them to be patient with me. Im doing all I can to find the way and they have to trust me. 250. Toni Elias, 1.39.802 (5th): Were fifth but Im not happy with how things worked-out. I had some suspension problems this morning but we solved them eventually. I went to the limit this afternoon in order to set good times. Im good at the first and second intermediate but I loose some important tenths in the third due to a lack of top speed and acceleration. Ill sit down with the mechanics now to look for solutions and I hope to find the right way. Im quite angry but I am confident that tomorrow things will work out much better. 250. Sebastián Porto, 1.39.936 (6th):Im satisfied with todays results. After all the problems we had at the Spanish Grand Prix, weve changed several internal things in the team and the change is working well. I finished sixth this afternoon, but Im happy because the bike is working well and I have a good rhythm. However, we have to keep on working. Were on the right way and we have to try to have the bike set for Sunday to make a good race. 250. Joan Olivé, 1.41.609 (13th): The practice sessions havent been bad, but if we manage to improve the behaviour of the bike well sure be able to improve times and be a bit further ahead. The result hasnt been bad, but I think we can make it better. This track doesnt have much grip and favours more powerful bikes, but the advantage for us is that it is a short circuit and you need less time to make a lap, thus loosing less time. Lets hope for dry weather tomorrow to be able to keep on improving the settings for the race. 250. Héctor Faubel, 1.41.767, (15th): We arrived at the Spanish Grand Prix with a lot of problems and we werent able to do the changes we wanted there. Therefore we decided to use these practices to test some new settings, but we havent managed to set the bike up correctly yet. Weve moved a bit forward today but its still a long way left to our reach our objective. Were having a lot of problems and we hope to be able to solve them soon. 125. Dani Pedrosa, 1.44.437 (6th): Im not very happy. The weather forecast says rain for tomorrow, so what we wanted was to set a good time today to secure a place on the front row of the grid. But first we had a tyre problem at mid-session hindering us from making good times and then came the problem with the engine that we havent identified yet. So in the end were probably out of the front row. 125. Pablo Nieto, 1.45.541 (18th): I crashed a few minutes before the end of the session and finally finished in a bad position. Fortunately it hasnt been anything serious, although my whole body is bruised. I got a strong hit in the coccyx and the wrist, but the worst thing is, that if it rains tomorrow we wont be able to improve times, so well have to take the start of the race from a back position. The only thing I can say is that I hope that it doesnt rain tomorrow. 125. Héctor Barberá, 1.44.570 (9th): We had some problems with the frame this morning, I wasnt able to ride well and finished eighteenth. In the afternoon we managed to solve the frame and engine problems and that allowed me to set the ninth fastest time. Im not worried because I have a good rhythm for the race and I managed to do a complete lap without making a single mistake. I hope the weather stays dry tomorrow, to be able to be among the top riders on the grid on Sunday.
