A crash keeps Sebastián Porto away from his second pole of the season.
The Argentinean is third in the 250 GP and Nicky Hayden looses the second place having to settle for seventh in MotoGP.
Not a very positive for the Repsol Honda Team in the MotoGP class. Both riders finished in backward positions already in the mornings free practice Barros sixth and Hayden ninth- but the technical teams work and the changes made to the bikes settings for the second qualifying session predicted better results in the afternoon. However, Hayden was not able to keep the second place achieved yesterday and was set back to the third row of the grid after setting the seventh fastest time, while his teammate Barros, tenth yesterday, lost one place and will be starting tomorrow from the fourth row. Rubén Xaus, who had a light crash this morning during the free practices, set the fifteenth fastest time in the afternoon.
Intense fight for the leading spot in the 250 GP between local rider De Puniet, the Spaniard Pedrosa and the Argentinean Repsol rider Sebastián Porto. Porto, who had been fastest yesterday, lead the second qualifying session until the last moments, when an inconvenient crash, fortunately without physical consequences, kept him away from the final battle for the pole. Pedrosa finally set the fastest time, with local rider De Puniet second and Porto third. His teammate Fonsi Nieto kept himself between the second and third row of the grid throughout the qualifying session, finally setting the seventh fastest clock.
In the 125, Pablo Nieto was not able to keep his position on the second row of the grid and will be starting tomorrow from the third row, after setting the tenth fastest time this afternoon. Nieto, who clocked the fifth fastest time in the morning practice, was hindered by slower riders in the last instants of the second qualifying session while he was trying to make his fastest lap. In his last try to move up positions in the timing sheets and with a chance to get a place in the first row, a slower rider got into his line during the last section hindering the Repsol rider from improving. His teammate Sergio Gadea, in his first weekend on the French track, set the twenty-seventh fastest time, one second faster than yesterday.
