France GP. Second practice. Incessant rain in Le Mans providing uncertainty for the Grand Prix

Incessant rain in Le Mans providing uncertainty for the Grand Prix.

No changes on yesterday’s provisional grid, with Rossi on pole in MotoGP, Nieto fourth in 250 and Pedrosa sixth in 125cc

Today, Valentino Rossi has proven once again to be one of the fastest riders, even under wet conditions, with the rain as the undesired guest of the session. The Italian rider was second fastest of the second qualifying session, behind Jeremy McWilliams, who set the fastest time. However, it hasn’t been a good day for Repsol’s Nicky Hayden. The young American had two crashes, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, fortunately without consequences. The weather forecast for tomorrow predicts rain over Le Mans, what may turn the French Grand Prix into a lottery.

Not many news after the second qualifying practice of the 250cc. The grid made up by the times clocked yesterday at the first qualifying session remained unchanged, and the riders focussed on finalising wet settings for their bikes, considering the bad weather forecasts for tomorrow. In this second timed session under the rain, Fonsi Nieto set the third fastest time, Sebastián Porto was seventh, Toni Elias, who had a light crash, seventeenth, Héctor Faubel twenty-fifth and Joan Olivé twenty-seventh.

Crashes and skidding have also been the general trend of the 125cc qualifying practice that was carried out under a fine but steady rain. This rain hindered the improvement of the times made yesterday and therefore the starting grid was made up by the times of the Friday qualifying session. Excellent performance once again of the rider from Valencia Héctor Barberá, who kept himself among the top riders with the eighth fastest time of the day. Pedrosa’s result this afternoon put him right after Barbera, while Pablo Nieto, with heavy pain after yesterday’s crash, made the thirtieth fastest time.
