German GP. Second practice. Driver´s comments

Fonsi Nieto: ‘I only hope it doesnt rain tomorrow to be able to try to repeat Donington’.
MotoGP, Valentino Rossi, 1.24´253 sec, 4th, starting grid position 4th: For the practice we make a not so bad result. We worked very much on the bike we are still not at 100% and we have a few problems so tomorrow we hope to fix. We hope for a dry race and will work hard to understand about the rear tyre in the warm up to make the best choice. We tried some soft tyres for the fast lap time at the end but we went too soft. The bike lost stability so we could not improve. Anyway we start tomorrow from the first lane and my physical condition is getting better so we hope for a good day. MotoGP, Nicky Hayden, 1.24´961 sec, 15th, starting grid position 15th: Not so happy really. Kinda didnt play the session as smart as I probably should have. I should have come in earlier and maybe got a softer tyre. I stayed out there and gotta lot of laps in. Ive definitely gotta work on my qualifying its my weakest point right now. The last 10 minutes is pretty intense and everyone really gets going fast. Anyway, Ive got to put qualifying behind me now and look forward to the race. Ive been going well here but itll be tough tomorrow. Its real difficult to overtake. Ive gotta get a good start and go from there. Sebastián Porto, 1.25´728 sec, 1st, grid position 1st: Im very happy, its been a good weekend. The crash I suffered yesterday in the last instants of the session hindered me from getting the pole, although I had been fastest almost throughout the session. Its been much better today. We had some problems in the morning because we didnt find the right settings. We made some changes and in the afternoon the bike worked well. I tried to give a 100% from the beginning and make an even better last lap at the end to keep the place on the front row and it became the pole. Its great for us. Fonsi Nieto, 1.25´963 sec, 4th, grid position 4th: Weve been working hard this weekend, Ive had a good rhythm both in the morning and in the afternoon. All the riders pushed hard from the beginning because we were expecting rain, so I went on the track twenty minutes before the end of the session with qualifying tyres to secure a place on the front row and then we went on working on the settings. When the first drops began to fall I decided to stop and not to take any unnecessary risk. I was already on the front row and I also had a good setting as well as the tyres for the race. I only hope it doesnt rain tomorrow to be able to try to repeat Donington. Its going to be a difficult race. Portos and Rolfos Hondas are doing great here, but I also have a good rhythm and I hope to be in the front tomorrow, fighting for the victory. Toni Elias, 1.26´517 sec, 9th, grid position 9th: Its being a complicated weekend for me. I dont like being that far back. We have some geometry problems were not able to solve. There are circuits in which we do better than others and here we just dont find the way to follow, but it doesnt mean anything. Theres a lot of championship left and Poggialis 24 points advantage are not a big advantage right now. Ill keep on working with my team this afternoon to see if we can improve some tenths tomorrow to be in the front fighting with the leading group. Héctor Faubel, 1.27´409 sec, 14th, grid position 15th: Yesterday everything went quite well but today weve had problems with the suspensions while trying out new things. In the end we changed back to the settings we used yesterday in the afternoon session. I improved the times a bit, half a second, but it would have been better to be a bit more in the front. The rain showing up at the end of the session wasnt of much help either, but I have a good rhythm and I trust that tomorrow everything will work out fine.                       Joan Olivé, 1.27´480 sec, 15th, grid position 11th: Its been a good practice because we finished with the bike almost ready for the race and I feel very comfortable on the bike. Weve also chosen the tyres for the race and tomorrow well only have to check that everything is OK and ready during the warm-up. Its going to be a complicated race, as always, but the most important thing will be the start. If I make a good start, I think that Ill be able to stay some laps with the leading group. Héctor Barberá, 1.28´022 sec, 3rd, grid position 3rd: Its been much better today. It seems that weve found the right setting for the bike. Im third and very happy. Lets hope for luck and no rain for tomorrow. I think that well be able to be back in the front and despite the problems weve had throughout the weekend Im very happy, because weve been working hard and everything is clear for tomorrow. Dani Pedrosa, 1.28´355 sec, 7th, grid position 7th: Its been a difficult session. But weve been able to improve times during the practice; weve always been five to six tenths from the leader and thats good. The race tomorrow will be a grouped, long and hard race and well have to be very careful with overtakings and crashes. Ill be starting from the second row and that doesnt make things easy, so I hope to make a good start. Pablo Nieto, 1.28´559 sec, 13th, grid position 13th: Im not very happy, Ive had some technical problems with the bike and after yesterdays crash I havent been feeling very well, therefore I havent been able to improve my times. The other riders were able to do so and therefore I dropped back to thirteenth. The most important thing is to try and make a good race tomorrow.
