Rossi: ’46GP win was fun but in the end they are just numbers. I like to win to make the championship
Valentino Rossi. Sachsenring has never been one of my favourite tracks. Ive only ever won there once on the 250cc in 1999. Im keen to get there and get on with the summer holiday we all need to recharge our batteries. Donington was great in the end. I would never have thought Id get the result after the crash on Friday. All the 100GP celebration and 46GP win was fun but in the end they are just numbers. I like to win to make the championship Tohru Ukawa. Im feeling much better after the Donington crash. My Donington curse hits again! Im still pretty sore although the foot feels better. I had the big cast taken off and Ive had a much smaller one put on. If I continue my recovery at the rate Im getting better at the moment I should be OK for the GP. Ill be meeting the medical team and the team in Sachsenring and well make a decision then. At least I didnt lose too many points at Donington with Carlos falling but Valentino seems to be getting away! Fonsi Nieto: ‘I wasnt very happy with the results of last week-end, because despite working very well on the three days, the final result was not the one we had expected; a second place is excellent, but we deserved the victory. Anyway, its a long Championship. There are still a lot of races left and thirteen points are almost nothing. I arrive in Germany in high spirits, longing to work really hard. Well actually stay on Monday after the Grand Prix in Germany for some testing on the Sachsenring before the long summer break. I like this track, its tight corners make this circuit one of the slowest of the calendar. This weekend Ill try to fight for victory, although I know that Melandri is very strong and he already took the victory here last year.’ Toni Elias: ‘Im really happy with the evolution up to now, Im feeling more and more comfortable on the bike and with my team. Ill plan this race as all the others. Were going to work hard to be able to follow the same line. I like the Sachsenring circuit a lot, its a circuit with slow corners and the races are usually very contested, because the differences between the riders are really small. Last year I had a good result in the 125cc class and I took second place on the podium despite being physically not at a 100% due to a crash during the warm-up. It was a tough race for me but in the end the suffering was worth it. If things work out well and the start doesnt end up like in Donington I hope to make the race with Fonsi and Melandri.’ Dani Pedrosa. In Great Britain we missed the victory for very little, but the truth is that at the end of the race I was more concerned about what Poggiali was doing and that let Vincent take some metres advantage. With hardly any rest, were already thinking about Germany, but anyway, the positive side is that after the race, well have a break that will be good for all of us. Sachsenring is a circuit with a lot of corners and some slopes that will make things hard for us with regard to competition. Last year I finished eleventh here but I obviously hope to take a much better place this weekend. Joan Olivé. Last season I took one point at the Sachsenring but I hope to get much more this time. I think I made a good race in England and Im sure that I would have been able to join the leading group, but I made a bad start and got stuck in the second group. There was a bit of a mess and once I decided to go and get the leading group, they were already too far away. Im feeling better all the time and for Germany I cannot but hope to be fighting in Germany once again for a place among the top five.
