Good performance of the Repsol Classic Team at the Monte Carlo Historic Rally

The Repsol Classic Team finished the 2011 edition of the Monte Carlo Historic Rally as the highest classified Spanish Team. Considered as the most prestigious regularity event in the world, with more than 300 entries, the Repsol Classic Team was able to take three cars to the finish line, confirming the excellent level of the team formed by the duos Ortega-Andreu -Lancia Fulvia HF-, De Miguel-Arias -Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV-, and Marcó-Pérez -Porsche 911 S-.

The Monte Carlo Historic rally starts the classic racing calendar and is considered the toughest regularity event in the world. Eligible cars should have competed in the event at least 30 years ago. At the end of the event, the Repsol Classic Team was the best classified team among the Spanish teams and the only one that was able to reach the Finish with all its cars.

After the tough night at the Turiní, where all participants found roads full of ice patches and the tarmac in very bad state, the duo of De Miguel and Arias classified 50th at the wheel of the Alfa Romeo. They were the second best Spanish team, followed closely by the Porsche of Marcó and Perez, who finished 59th after a great recovery. Ortega and Andreu were able to finish the race with their Lancia Fulvia HF in a far 232nd position. They set good times during all the rally, but an off track excursion in the first day cost them a heavy penalty from the organizers.

Due to this year’s weather conditions, the fact of having finished the rally can be considered a success by all participants. In this edition, the Monaco event had many more kilometres that caused a significant amount of retirements from the first stages.
