Grand Prix de France. Preview. Le Mans, Lucky circuit for the Repsol riders

Le Mans, Lucky circuit for the Repsol riders.

Last season, Rossi and Fonsi Nieto took victories and Pedrosa finished third.

With the arrival in Spain, the Road Racing World Championship began its European stage, and both riders and teams are heading now for the next round on French grounds, where the fourth race of the season will be hosted by the Le Mans circuit. Valentino Rossi, leader of the MotoGP standings from the first race of the season, arrives in a circuit he has openly declared as not being among his favourite ones. His team-mate Nicky Hayden cannot say the same because he will be riding for the first time in his live in Le Mans on Friday, something that has already happened to him this year and a situation the young Repsol rider will have to get used to.

In the 250 GP, Toni Elias arrives overwhelmed after his victory in Spain, although still convalescent of his left-hand injury, forcing him to focus on the Championship rather than on a single race. His team-mate Fonsi Nieto, winner last year in France, has not had a good start of the season, but his eagerness and will to get over this situation will take him with no doubt to try his best in France. Sebastián Porto, with several physical problems in Spain, will probably have had time enough after this week and a half to recover strength and arrive in France ready to continue with his progression on his 250cc Honda. And for Jorge Martínez Aspars young pupils, Joan Olivé and Héctor Faubel, France will be a new chance to make good use of the means they have available this season.

In the 125 GP, both Pedrosa and Pablo Nieto have outstanding business to solve in France. Pedrosa missed a podium last year in Le Mans, that he will obviously try to reach again and he left Spain without a leadership he surely will want to get back. And Pablo Nieto because he will be eager to get the podium and a victory, something hes fighting really hard for this season. He almost made it in Jerez, but mechanical problems pulled him out of the final fight, while he was comfortably riding among the leading pack. His team-mate Héctor Barberá, seventh in Jerez, will try to get a place among the leading group again, i.e. right where he wants to be this season.
