Izan Guevara secures the European Talent Cup championship in Jerez

The Spanish rider obtains the title after a victory and a podium in the sixth round of the FIM CEV Repsol. Tatay, Pons and Moreira were the other winners of the day.

Carlos Tatay won the two races of the FIM Moto3 Junior World Championship, after starting from pole position and escaping alone at the end of both contest.

With the 50 points won in Jerez, the Spanish rider took the second place overall, 37 points behind Jeremy Alcoba, who keeps the lead after finishing second (just before Xavier Artigas) and third (right after Ryusei Yamanaka) in today’s contest.

In Moto2, Edgar Pons won the only race of the day. The Spanish rider had an impressive recovery, catching up with Hector Garzó, and crossing the finish line two seconds ahead. Italian Alessandro Zaccone completed the podium.

Pons increased his advantage in the overall standings to 53 points over Garzó and will arrive in Albacete with a mathematical chance to secure the championship.

Izan Guevara took the European Talent Cup (ETC) championship after winning the first race and finishing third in the second. Brazilian Diogo Moreira was the winner of the second contest.

The next round of the FIM CEV Repsol will be at the Albacete Circuit next October 13th.

Moto3 – Race 1

“Truth is that this race was even tougher than the rest. The two riders following me were very strong and I had to push hard in the last laps. I made a difference setting up the pace and I was able to build an advantage to get to the finish line in first place. EDGAR PONS – MOTO2 RACE WINNER

“I’m very happy; it was my best race of the whole year. We arrived after a very complicated weekend; we hadn’t been on the bike for a long time and that forced us to work hard on the setup during practice. We knew that it was going to be a difficult race, but I did my best. I tried to preserve the tyres and when I was able to pass Garzó I pushed hard until the end. I want to thank my team for the great job they did.”

“I’m very happy; the season was very tight from the beginning. This second race saw a good battle; we were a lot of riders fighting for the victory and there were many overtaking manoeuvres. In the end we were able to get on the podium and celebrate the championship in Jerez.”
