Javier Villa: Career highlights and biography

Javier Villa was born on October 5th, 1987, in Colunga, Asturias (Spain). As many drivers, Javier started his sports career entering Go-kart races. He made the jump to the single-seaters in 2003, after being chosen to form part of the Repsol Racing for Spain programme. After only two seasons in the Spanish Formula 3 Series, Javier made the big step to the GP2 Series in 2006 at the age of 18. While Javier Villa’s main aim in 2006 was to learn and to get to know the circuits and the car, the aims for 2007 are completely different. Despite being the youngest rider of the series for another year, Javier has impressed many people with his good results during the winter tests. The time has come to put these results in to practice at the races and therefore, Javier Villa’s aims for 2007 are clear: to score at every race and to fight to get onto the podium, and, why not, to win some race.- 1996: 5th Asturias Junior Karting Championship- 1997: 3rd Asturias Junior Karting Championship- 1998: Asturias Junior Karting Champion- 1999: Runner-up Castilla-León Junior Karting Winter Championship. 8th Ford Junior Karting Open.- 2000: 5th Spanish Junior Karting Championship.
