Jerez will reveal the CEV Repsol Champions

French rider Fabio Quartararo in the two Moto3 races, Malaysia’s Hafizh Syahrin in Moto2, and Ivan Silva in Stock Extreme win in the CEV Repsol round held in Valencia. Maria Herrera in Moto3, Roman Ramos in Moto2 and Xavi Fores in Stock Extreme will arrive in Jerez as leaders of the overall standings.

The penultimate round of the CEV Repsol held today in Valencia didn’t decide the title of any of the three classes, so the Championship stays open for the last round, next Sunday, at the Jerez Circuit. French Fabio Quartararo took a crushing victory in the two Moto3 races, while in Moto2 the winner was the Malaysian rider Hafizh Syahrin and in Stock Extreme, Ivan Silva took the first place at the Ricardo Tormo track.

Without time to rest, next Sunday will see the last round of the CEV Repsol in Jerez, with the Championship title still up for grabs in all categories. Maria Herrera in Moto3, Roman Ramos in Moto2 and Xavi Fores in Stock Extreme will arrive as leaders to this decisive round where the biggest displacement class will have two races.

Moto3
Fabio Quartararo was the great winner in the two races held today at the Ricardo Tormo circuit. The young French rider unquestionably won both races by setting a searing pace that allowed him to add 50 points to his tally and take the fifth overall position.

The other star of the day was Maria Herrera. Thanks to her fifth and second places today, the rider from Toledo will arrive in the last race of the season as overall leader with one point over the second, Alejandro Medina, and 8 over her team mate Marcos Ramirez. As it has been during the whole season, the positions are very close and up to 7 riders will have mathematical chances to win the title in Jerez.

Moto2
In the intermediate category, the top three riders of the overall classification, Roman Ramos, Alex Mariñelarena and Hafizh Syahrin offered a great show in their battle for victory at the Ricardo Tormo. In the end victory was for Malaysia’s Syahrin, who beat the two Spanish riders. Roman Ramos, who needed to finish ahead of Mariñelarena to secure the Championship title, could not prevent the rider from Navarra to overtake him and finish second, while Ramos ended the race in third.

This result keeps the championship open as Mariñelarena still has a chance to win the title, although Ramos has an advantage of 20 points before the all-important round in Jerez.

Stock Extreme
In Stock Extreme, Ivan Silva was able to end Xavi Fores winning streak after 4 consecutive victories. Fores finished third, as Carmelo Morales, second, was also able to overtake him. The class’ leader led the race in the first corner, but Silva and Morales, his main rivals in the overall standings, passed him in lap four and quickly escaped from the Valencian. During the rest of the race, Morales tried to catch Silva, who set a very fast pace and arrived first to the Finish Line.

After his first victory of the season, Silva is still third in the overall standings, 41 points behind the leader, who is still Xavi Fores. Carmelo Morales is second, 25 points behind Fores. Next Sunday, the Stock Extreme riders will have two races in the last round of the year to decide who will be the champion in this category.

Fabio Quartararo – Moto3 Race 1 Winner >> Audio

“The race went very well. I thought I would not be able to escape, but I had a good pace and I could progressively build my advantage in the first half of the race. I pushed hard until the team put my difference with the second in the board and from then on I just managed the advantage until the end. I am very happy to have won my first CEV Repsol race. It’s great!”

“I am very happy because this is my second win in the CEV Repsol. I was a bit upset in the grid because I couldn’t put the bike in neutral, but even with that I did a good start. In the first group we were six or seven riders and when I saw it was a good moment I pushed and I was able to win for the second time in the day.”

Hafizh Syahrin – Moto2 Race Winner >> Audio

“I felt good during the whole weekend; the Qualifying went well, I set the fastest time, but the race wasn’t going to be easy because I knew that Mariñelarena and Ramos will be fighting with me. By mid race I pushed harder because I felt comfortable on the bike, but I could only get half a second advantage. The both passed me and I stayed behind to see their pace. I overtook Ramos two laps before the end and then Mariñelarena in the last lap. It was a very close race. To win for the second time on dry makes me very happy. I thank everyone in my team, my sponsors that accompany me for the second year, my family and everyone that supports me. I hope I’ll be able to repeat this result in Jerez.”

Ivan Silva – Stock Extreme Race Winner >> Audio

“We had to work very hard the entire weekend. We went back to the previous set-up, as in the races in Albacete they didn’t work and here we finally found the good set-up. Anyway, the problem with the tyres affected us all, but I think that it was worse for my rivals, Carmelo [Morales] and Xavi [Fores]. Maybe the tyres suited us better, and we did well testing them yesterday afternoon, as we found the right ones, which was the key to our victory today. I must thank my team for their hard work and all the people that always supports us. Let’s hope we can continue like this the rest of the Championship.”
