The rider of the Repsol Montesa Honda Team got at the Czech Republic a new crown as Trial World Champion, her eleventh title since 2000

The years go by and the rivals change, but the Feminine Trial World Championship is still dominated by one rider since 2000: Laia Sanz. The Repsol rider made history again today at the Czech Republic, by adding another world championship title —the eleventh— to her already amazing record, where she has another ten continental titles and the victory of the females category in the last edition of the Dakar.

At Tanvald, in the Czech Republic, Laia Sanz conquered yesterday the Trial European Championship title and today she did the same at the World Championship round. The rider of the Repsol Montesa Honda team, who won last week in Germany the first round of the Championship, gathered today her second victory of the series, securing the title one round before the end, as only the two best results count for the classification.

The Repsol rider will try to put the icing of this title’s cake by looking for a new triumph in the third and last round of the World Championship, which will take place on September 16th at Tolomezzo, Italy.

Laia Sanz
“Today’s zones were more difficult, and as it rained yesterday, the surface was muddy and very slippery. Despite the difficulty, I think I made more mistakes than I should, maybe because when you know that you are about to win, you pay more attention to the result and that can lead you to make some mistakes. Naturally, to be able to win the World Championship after achieving yesterday the European title is amazing. People ask me if I am not tired to win, but for me it is a challenge to keep gathering victories. I still have a lot of motivation because my rivals have also changed during the years and there come new generations willing to do it well. Winning both championships in such an intense year is very valuable for me, as I dedicated a lot of energy to the Dakar Rally, which is a race that requires a different preparation than that of the trial. This year is undoubtedly the best of my sporting career”.
